Welcome
to the beautiful city of Gardendale, Alabama.
We are a city that is on the move. This is
a place where family values help our citizens “live
the good life” in our welcoming neighborhoods.
Gardendale
is a bedroom community with all the amenities
of the big city life. It is located only
8 miles from downtown Birmingham where our
citizens can enjoy arts, concerts, and all
the conveniences of metropolitan living and
still live in a community that is rich in
culture. Gardendale also has a top rated
Arts Council that produces some of the best
performances anywhere around. We are blessed
to have such a wonderful Civic Center that
serves a great part of Jefferson County.
We are the only city in Jefferson county
that will soon be home to a Miracle League
Field, which is a place where physically
and mentally challenged citizens can be directly
involved in the All-American sport of baseball.
Gardendale is very involved in youth sports.
In 2008 we hosted the Dizzy Dean 7 year-olds
World Series. Our youth football, softball,
baseball, basketball, and soccer facilities
are among the best in the region. We are
fortunate to have outstanding tennis courts
and modern playground facilities for all
ages. Sports is not the only outstanding
amenity in Gardendale. Our Library has been
rated 2nd in the state of Alabama with state-of-the-art
technology and is steadily growing. Our quality
of life is very important. We take pride
in our highly professional Police and Fire
Departments whose service gives the citizens
a peace of mind.
Gardendale schools are run by the Jefferson County Board of Education and are ranked as some of the best schools in the state. The SAT/ACT/PSAT scores are among the top in the state of Alabama. Gardendale has 2 Elementary Schools, Bragg Middle School and Gardendale High School as well as two private schools. The Jefferson County Board of Education is in the process of completing a new $50+ million dollar high school that will host state-of-the-art technology.
Gardendale also hosts some of the most beautiful subdivision communities around. You can find modern homes in various price ranges to suit your needs. Gardendale is also home to nearly 50 churches from small to large. We feel certain that you will be able to find a church where you and your family can feel at home.
Gardendale is the type of community that many people think disappeared years ago, but with the help of our Historical Society, Public Works Department and our Beautification Board, the beauty and history of Gardendale is kept alive. Those of us who live and do business here know that a life of Southern friendliness and neighborly spirit does still exist. That’s the way we live everyday here in Gardendale, and we invite you to become a part of it. If you are looking for a special place to live or open a business, you will find that Gardendale offers some of the finest opportunities available anywhere. My office would be happy to help you coordinate your move into our beautiful and progressive city.
In service to the City of Gardendale,
Othell Phillips
