Founded
in 1954 and Chartered in 1956 with thirteen (13)
volunteer members. First city fire engine
- 1956 Ford Barton American - purchased from
Harry Harless Fire Equipment @ $6,600. Current
fleet consists of three (3) engines, one (1)
quint, one (1) rescue unit, one (1) command unit
and three (3) special service vehicles. The
department covers approximately 50 square miles
and averages 150 alarms monthly with 80% assigned
to medical-related alarms. Current staff
is trained and certified in various levels of
service, ranging in paramedics, high angle/rope
rescue, confined space, trench rescue, fire prevention,
swift water, haz-mat and other individual certifications.
