Alvin Currington was elected to the City Council in 2008 and is currently serving his first term. Alvin and his wife of 15 years, Joanna Nichols Currington, make their home in the Castle Pines community in Gardendale. They have two sons, Nicholas (12) who attends Bragg Middle School and Zachary (5) who attends Gardendale Elementary School.

Alvin is employed as a System Analyst / Network Specialist in the Information Systems Department with Thompson Caterpillar.

Alvin represents the Council on the Planning and Zoning Board of Gardendale and serves on the following committees: Finance and Insurance (Chairperson), Education, Public Safety and Park and Recreation

He is a member of the Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce.

Alvin and his family are active members of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church.
