III
As councilman for Ward 3, Oscar has
been appointed Chairman of the Park and Recreation Board and the
Education Committee. He will also serve on the Gardendale Public
Library Committee. He is a member of Gardendale's First Baptist
Church, where he also teaches adult Sunday school. Other
memberships include: Chamber of Commerce, Civitans Club, and the
Gardendale Masonic Lodge. Oscar is retired from the Jefferson
County Board of Education. He has taught and coached at Bragg
Middle School and was an Assistant Principal at Gardendale High
School. Currently, he is self-employed.
Oscar has been married to Denise Abney
Mann for 26 years. Denise is currently a Counselor with the
Jefferson County Board of Education. Oscar has 3 children:
Shane, Jeff, and Lindsey. Shane is employed with Ironworkers
Local Union #92 and Jeff owns and operates Warrior Tire. Lindsey is a graduate of Gardendale High School and
the University of Alabama. He also has
four grandchildren: Mary Catherine, Maggie, Nate, and Nolan.
Oscar also served in the U.S. Navy
from 1965 to 1967 on the U.S.S. Oriskany Aircraft Carrier.
He looks forward to serving the
citizens of the City of Gardendale!
